Almost back to the begining
So I suffered a huge setback. My laptop basically went t*ts up on the c drive and windows 10 became unusable due to the screen flicker bug. I tried everything I could through safe mode (I am now renaming it sh*t mode in windows 10) but thanks to the new way they deal with stuff in windows 10 I could do nothing as it still loaded all the driver and what not you woudl expect in safe mode which included what was causing the bug. I then tried to push the system back to an old restore point... this failed. So I tried all the other restore points, only to find out none of them worked and were effectively corrupt... great. I then tried a few of the other roll back methods windows 10 has all of which did not work.
This left one one last option, format the c drive and reinstall. This meant that I lost everything on my c drive although I cheekily managed to get into the dos prompt and managed to manually via the command line back up a load of files from my desk top just none of the game files I had so far. Not to worry I thought, I will get win 10 back up and running v quickly and... oh that's right I don't have any recovery stuff for win 10 as I got the free win 10 upgrade from win 7. Ok so I will just pull out my original laptop recovery discs and install win 7.
About two and a bit hours later, I had a functioning laptop again... yaye! But wait... I need ot install these updates all 196 of them. This then followed 2 nights and almost a full day of downloading updates, running them and installing them. This dropped the amount of updates waiting then bounced it back up and dropped it and bounced it back up. At one point I got the pending updates down to 132 then it magically jumped back up to 190 f**king 6. So after a long long long time I got all the updates installed. Then I had to install windows 10, that's right I wasn't even at that point yet because the windows 10 media recovery tool would not let me update to windows 10 but not downloading any of the win 10 files until I had done all the win 7 updates.
Flash forward 4 hours and it is half past 3 in the morning on Saturday night and I finally have windows 10 running. But it does not end there, I still had to add in windows 10 updates along with a few big fixes and then more time installing and configuring all the programs I normally have on my machine. I still have a few programs to download but at least I have my laptop mostly back to how it was albeit without the game files I had created before. So now I just need to re-start and try and remember what I had programed already and get it back to the point I was at last time.
