We have some momentum now!

Work has been progressing behind the scenes on SIW and I’ve managed to put together a fair amount of functionality already. The profile page has about ¾’s of its functionality built in, with some added extras in there as well. I have category/sub category search pages about 60% done. I do want the search pages to be able to be in one page and it just selects what to search for by passed through vars. But for the moment im programming them all individually, with the view to combining it all into 1 page in the end. That way I can test all the coding works properly search page by search page (even though its duplicated in places) before I put it all into 1 page.

I have also been working on the review page along with 2nd opinion vars and adding in new sub searches as well all on the same page. That way it will make it easier for people to search our site for reviews.

Along with all of this I now have written about 50 functions in total, just for those pages I mentioned above. I still have at least another 15/20 functions to create to get the basic functionality in place for these pages. Ive also built in review view count, this checks is someone has already viewed a review and if not that reviews count gets incremented. Obviously this isn’t fool proof but it gives us a way of checking in a simple not completely accurate way of how many people have been viewing reviews. This will only be used for internal purposes may I point out.

Chris is beavering away on the design still, but also working on the radio royal website also so hopefully once he has done that, he will have some free time for the SIW design. Mind you I need to get a lot of the programming done first before we can start plugging it all into the design. But at least we are making steps to getting the site done. Im also having to put together a fair few reviews just to have something in the database to check a lot of the bits ive coded work properly. So far I have 2 reviews (one dvd one cinema) hopefully in the next few weeks ill get a few more in there as well.
