A bit of work from the long weekend

So it was a bank holiday, which means long weekend for me. Unfortunately a lot of my plans went awry for the weekend but I still managed to keep busy. I did some play testing of older 8-bit games for some inspiration for this new game, and came up with a fair few good ideas.
I was playing a range of old Spectrum, C64 and Acorn Electron titles on respective emulators for a good few hours. It did bring back a lot of memories of from way back when I were but a lad. I have to also say I am actually quite impressed by some of the titles I played as they were quite involved, more than I remember games being back then. Perhaps though im just impressed because me memories of these games against modern games makes me think they weren’t as complicated to make as they actually were.
So with the games played and ideas forming, I jotted down a few ideas and tried working on the main character sprites but to no avail and threw away those designs as they just didn’t look good at all. I did how ever do a little more work on the game page and the menu screen. Im still not to sure what the game will be called (no doubt ill keep changing it till its finally finished). So in the images I did I tried a couple of names for the menu screen, but im still not 100% sure I like either of them.
Ive put up into the gallery for this project the images so far, so please do check them out. But with a busy week this week and an even busier weekend im not sure ill get much work done on this project. But I have got my desk in place at home now so I have a work space where I can go hide and work on my projects at long last. So im aiming to have this game done hopefully in the next couple of months so perhaps a late October early November release date, mind you knowing me its more likely to be next year to expect it with everything else im working on at once. But ill aim for a 2 month window and we shall see where we end up.
The trick will be to get the sprites done and animated, as once they are ready, I can plod away into the actionscripting. This will obviously be the hardest part, but depending on different aspects I may add to the game it could become even harder to program very very quickly.
