Design Time
Well I have been playing about with a few small design ideas for the look of the site whilst trying to keep it all in a 4 column layout, as if we are going to use bootstrap that's prob the best choice. Today I made a couple of amends to the old design I knocked up quickly and both myself and Ross were liking the results. Some other suggestions from Ross were added and we think we have the working look of the site done.
I how ever had some time on my hands and wanted to see if i could get the navigation working the way we wanted (not that it will be difficult to do, its just fiddly for certain parts with the logo and social icons. Well an hour later and I have knocked together a quick HTML5/CSS3 template which basically works. There are a lot of sty-lings missing from it and its not been tested on older browsers or had backwards compatibility put into it for browsers that don't support HTML5. But those can be added soon in a re-vamp of this one.
I was quite impressed at how little HTML and CSS was needed for the bare bones of the site template. Yes I know that will beef up later but its working at the moment and on not that much code. There were a few ideas that had to be dropped that I had because they just dont work in CSS but over all I'm very happy with this first build of the template.
Next it will be a more robust version with all the extras added to it along with cross browser's compatibility built in but so far its looking good for this project.
