Templates

Well I have been working hard on this project, pulling together lots of pieces of the the flat html template whilst looking at how the cms works so I can can make sure I achieve first time round what I want to with the template. I worked out a lot of the initial issues with the template relating to how it is displayed at different resolutions via bootstrap. Got all (I hope) the old IE issues sorted, the 4 column design will still be present in parts of the site but the homepage will be a 3 column layout for the bottom boxes, and main page content will be full width although we are playing with the idea of a side bar hmm we shall see.

I went through a tutorial about how to get your template ready for the cms and how to arrange all the files and add in the correct code needed for the template to work. I then applied all of this to our template and handed it over to ross. He then uploaded the files and installed them which to my own glee worked first time.

How ever this is when I did spot some issues with how the design scales which i started working on and fixed in a few hours. We also decided to only let bootstrap downscale from the standard display size rather than upscalling as well. This was because the slider we want to add in and a few other pieces on the site dont really lend themselves to getting any bigger than they would be at the normal web design size. I then started work on the design for our profile pages (each skater has a sticker like image that you click on to get to their profile).

Also fixed the news section properly with a news page template to cover archives and what not on the far right hand side. There have been a few little bits and bobs that keep popping up that need tweeking with some css but I'm fixing these as I go along.

Our aim is to have the site up and out there in the next 2 weeks hopefully we can do that fingers crossed, but that is all dependent on getting content for the site in time.
