Pictures, pictures, pictures
I had to think of somewhere to start, and seeing as the basis of this micro site would be images. I thought i should start by taking some of all the things I have. So I unearthed all the Minifigures I have from all the collections and set up a simple conveyer belt to photograph them.
I managed to get through all the pictures at a decent pace but then had to edit all the images. I decided on a max width size for the large version of the images and went about resizing them in photoshop. Half way through I noticed that some of the images were darker than others, so I started to play about with the levels of the pictures to sort this. I then had to go back and edit the levels of edited images I had done before I started changing the levels.
After all of this (which took a fair bit of time), I then sorted out the pictures into corresponding folders for each of the sets and uploaded them to the server. After doing this i put together a rather simple script that would search the folder it was in for other folders, then open them, read the contents and if they were images, make a thumbnail of them. It took a few attempts to get this right thanks to some silly errors with setting up where to look for folders.
After I got this done I put together a simple html page and wrote some php (similar to the thumbnail one) but this time for each image it found it would place the image on the page.
