Teams

Today I spent a good 2 hours inputting the leagues and teams I needed to for my CV. Now normally I would have inputted this way back at the beginning but decided not to as at first I was going to use this as a way of getting stats on my reffing not the teams. But seeing as I am opening it up now to do a lot more than I had initially intended It is best to put all this info in now and perhaps later not use it than later need it and not have it in there.

The issue I have is that in Roller Derby a team is not just a team, it is a team from a league. Now leagues can have more than 1 team and of those teams some could be travel teams, they could have a b and c travel teams and some could be home teams. Meaning travel teams are usually the main ones that go out and play other teams up and down the country and home teams are teams that only play each other from a specific league made up of skaters from that league.

As you can see this does have the possibility to become confusing so I had to come up with a way to tag teams to a league and only that league but leave it open in a way that more teams could be added later. This was easy enough to do via a couple of tables in the Database but now I have the issue of how do I tag teams to a game and set who was the home team and who was the away team. I could make two tables one for home team other for away then tag those id's in the main game table or there are another couple of ways of just putting the teams directly into the game table. We will see how things unfold and which direction I choose to take based on what is probably easier all round for querying all the data.
