Pull the info out
So after deciding what info should be on the homepage of this I have started to write code at last for the homepage after deleting all that I had before for it. So far I have written a few functions that pull info into arrays and pass these to the page to display and manipulate. the reason for this is that for the chart's I am using the info that goes into the charts needs to be put into java script arrays as well. So having the info in arrays at the outset of the page means that I can then use them later on once I have put everything out to display and create the necessary java script arrays at the bottom of the page.
I have also written the SQL statement that joins all the tables together from the way I have laid them out so I can display a full ref history. Whilst this was not difficult it was just laborious thanks to all the inner joins and right/left joins as well as aliases I needed to put in place for it to work how I wanted it to.
At the moment I have a total amount of games pulled out, along with dates for my first and latest games I have reffed. Then I have a full pull out of my ref history (I may change this to have it's own page instead and just show the last x amount of games with a link to the pull list though), then I have a list of all the HR's I have worked with also listing how many games I have reffed with them and a list of all the ref positions I have done in games and the amount of times I have done these.
The idea being that the front page is a selection of data that gives an overview of all the info you may want to know and also links to more expansive details on that information. For example you could click on a head ref name, this takes you to a page for that head ref and shows you in more detail our shared ref history, i.e. games we have reffed together, the amount of times I have done different ref positions with those HR's, the teams we have reffed together etc etc
The same can be said with teams, click on a team and see the amount of times I have reffed that team, followed by the positions I have reffed them in, along with who has been my HR's. Or you could click on the league and if they have more than 1 team that I have reffed (e.g. ARRG, Glasgow, Mean City Dundee, BCR) you can see an overview of all the stats for all their teams together and the option to break it down more by selecting one of their teams.
Still haven't thought about the design aspect of this yet as I want to get all the coding done and dusted first. Probably should get started thinking about it all though as that is always the part that takes me the most amount of time to do.
